Inspired By Paul Bogel

The story of Paul Bogel who was born a slave in Stony Gut, St. Thomas Jamaica, is indicative of so many ‘unknown bards’ who fought, sang, and believed in their right to be free under God. Bogel grew up at the tail end of slavery when the plantation owners did not want to give slaves their new rights, nor did they want them to get land. When God is changing an old regime we often see the incumbent put up a last violent stand.

Bogel’s previous owner had taught him to read and write. He read the Bible and was a self-taught scholar who owned land and was also able to vote! When the slaves were made free by law, they soon found out that this freedom was not being practised in reality. Bogel became a spokesman for his people, and led a series of protests to speak to the Governor at Spanish Town and in Morant Bay. A skirmish broke out at the Morant Bay courthouse and the Governor sent in the troops. This led to the Morant Bay Rebellion where Bogel's followers and chapel were burnt and where he was eventually arrested. Bogel was eventually hung and four hundred and fifty people perished along with him.

After the rebellion it became clear to the British parliament that if the transition from slavery to freedom was not protected by law, anarchy would ensnare the British colonies.

Bogel's death brought about a new beginning, better roads and schools, social and educational services and the right to own land. This movement continued and culminated in the formation of the Trade Unions and political parties that would one day be led by Jamaican people in a land they would call their own.

Today it is easy to see ourselves as being powerless victims, not being as well off as those around us, but Paul Bogel did not see his limitations, he took what he had been previously given by God, and made use of it for his fellow man.

The fact that you can read and write, live in relative freedom, are surrounded by knowledge and possibilities, makes you some of the wealthiest people in the world. I challenge you this morning not to look at your own limitations, but to look at the unlimited possibilities of the God you serve. Moses demanded from the Governor Pharaoh that he ‘let my people go’ and although he to never saw the Promised Land, he paved the way for you and me to have the opportunities our forebears prayed we would have. Whatever Pharaoh you might be facing in your personal life, maybe it’s the pharaoh of poor education, lack of opportunity, low self-esteem and fear, today, we are here to tell those old demons ‘let our people go’. This is a time to stand up and be counted, to demand from yourself the spirit of excellence and determination; to school yourself to continue through difficult tasks, to enlist support for challenging times. Make no mistake about it, the Bible tells us ‘the race is not for the swift but for those who endure to the end’

Our TGIM Training Call this morning (Thank God it's Monday) had no training, and yet was possibly the most powerful call of hundreds to date. Why? We simply prayed together for about 40 minutes. Rep after Rep took turn praying humbly to God. What empowerment - I can't tell you how important this aspect of your life and financial situation, can be. An Incredibly Powerful Event

This was our third Mindset Mentoring Conference and without pause” the best yet!” It was an incredibly powerful event where our mindset has been reshaped by God through the Holy Spirit. What the Mindset Mentoring Conference offers through Advantage Conferences is a completely unique niche in the marketplace. No one in attendance could deny the indwelling of the Holy Spirit among attendees and speakers alike. There were simply no Luke warm attendees in attendance. It was intense because Laura and I spoke with and heard from dozens of passionate individuals who are sold out to the cause of Christ in all areas of their lives none of whom possessed even a hint of arrogance but rather demonstrated strength in humility! To hear God speak to us through all of the mentors, Advantage Conferences reps and attendees has had the most impact on us to date! The verse that came alive for Laura and I was Matthew 6:33, Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. All of the mentors had this core thread running through their business endeavors and personal testimonies despite their seemingly diverse backgrounds and difficult situations.
The Lord has brought us into this place where we have relied on Him alone and He is building up a testimony for His glory through our lives. We have no D.O.U.B.T that the ongoing mentoring available through Advantage Conferences has been a shortcut to this realization. Two pivotal points for Laura and I that we have gleaned from the MMC have been: You need to hand your business, not just your personal life over to God and that walking in faith means believing in then walking through the doors Jesus has opened before us. A highlight for us was when we actually hand wrote a commitment where we gave our business to Lord and placed it at His Altar. TeleMentoring That Benefits Christian Entrepreneurs

As a part of our teams Ongoing Christian Telementoring a couple hundred Entrepreneurs listen in every monday on a conference call called "TGIM" Thank God Its Monday call. Most people dread monday as the begining a the work week but the individuals on this call are excited to see what the week will have to offer. Its awesome the individuals on these calls are laying it out every single day not playing small ball and seeking biblical truth and clairity in direction. They are coming to a ever increasing realization of how to use their business endeavors as marketplace ministry.
There was question asked to Jack Weinzierl,who was hosting the call, how do I create a sense of urgency and hunger in this business if we are comfortable and all our needs are met. I included Jacks response along with the notes from that TGIM CALL.

We have a good life. Folks, I will just tell you right now, we are all called to do SO much more. It is not us four and no more. If you do not have that burning desire to do more, to be able to give more, I challenge you to get involved with some local charities or better yet, go on a mission trip where the invisible children live on garbage dumps. Do you see how that personal cocoon and comfort is a selfish mindset. We can and will do so much more to be different makers and not space takers. If you think that's all there is to go throughout our day, waking up early, commuting in traffic, going to work, coming home late, so that we can make just enough to afford our home, coffee so we can get up early for that job, clothes that we need to go to work, a car that we need to go to work, food that we need to go to work, and so on, you are mistaken. Think about it how ridiculous that really is. No wonder so many wake up in their 40s or 50s wondering what the purpose of life is. A mid-life crisis is really a "lack of purpose and passion"crisis.
What lie have we bought into? And a new Corvette is not going to satify that void. Never will.
I am reminded of a gentleman who shared at a recent conference I attended.
He asked all of us, "Do dogs like bones?" Everyone said yes. But he quickly corrected us that Dogs like steak, but they settle for bones. How many of us have been settling for bones? They don't dislike bones, they settle for them! What is it they you are settling for?
We were born to win, BUT we must choose to win. It involves you seeing yourself as God sees you and recognizing that your inheritance of the abundant life is here and now.
Here and Now. There is a sense of urgency, not emergency we all need to operate under in our businesses and out lives. We all have the same hours in a day and days in the week. This sense of urgency is critical. I look at someone like our new MMC-IV team member, Steven Walle from Ft. Worth and in his first two weeks he will have two MMC-IVs, two MMC-Is, and he called last week with some of the top names in ministry who he called that have agreed to link to his AC site. These names blew me away and when I asked how he got through, he states, I simply called them.
You may need a revelation in your life today. There's plenty of money out there folks. When we look at prosperity in the Bible it is more than just money. It means nothing lacking; wholeness; having everything you need and abundance.
God created You for Greatness! Live and walk the vision. We need to see what God has promised us and that is in His Word.
He said we are "Clothed with Power" It is not the spooky natural, but the Supernatural. We need to live the Word and we have to let God walk, control and lead our lives. If we see it in the Word, are we ready to live it out? When we do, we will have influence, we will be light because of who is in me. Our walk has to line up. We need to expect more.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

A Closer Look at Priorities

What are your priorities? One way of finding out what your priorities truly are is to observe how you spend your time and your money. Those areas of your life that receive the most time and money are your priorities. The question is - are our priorities ordered correctly?

One of the reasons we believe so strongly in helping people participate in Free Enterprise, Entrepreneurship, and Personal Business Ownership, is that once a person’s business is properly and successfully established, they begin having access to more time and money, thereby becoming much more likely to live their life in a more fulfilling manner. They are more likely to optimize other, more important areas of their life.

Stated another way, successful entrepreneurship can afford us the luxury of being able to spend more time and more money on the things that are truly important – Godly ordained priorities. Rather than being enslaved by money (making it), we can gradually be freed from the necessity of creating it, and begin living our lives in a more exciting, meaningful, and rewarding fashion!

You may be surprised to notice that “business” falls into 4th place in order of importance. However, it is that very category that can help fortify the other three categories - helping them become more fully optimized. Indeed, successful business can be the facilitator to a wonderful life!
